Students within post-secondary education settings are experiencing increasing stress, distress, and mental health difficulties. Many post-secondary education settings have identified student mental health and wellbeing as a priority and yet are struggling to adequately meet the needs of students. This has led to exploring whether technology can be used to help promote mental health and wellbeing among students. The JoyPop app is one mobile mental health app with a growing evidence base. It was developed to support improved emotion regulation - a key challenge among students struggling with distress and mental health difficulties. Using a randomized controlled trial (RCT) design, the primary objective of this research is to determine the effectiveness of the JoyPop app in improving emotion regulation among post-secondary students when compared to no intervention. The secondary objectives are to: (1) Assess change in mental health, wellbeing, and resilience between students in each condition to better understand the app's broader impact; (2) Conduct an economic analysis to determine whether receiving the app reduces other health service use and associated costs; (4) Assess students' perspective on the quality of the JoyPop app.

Cow's milk is a dietary staple for children in North America. Though clinical guidelines suggest children transition from whole (3.25% fat) milk to reduced (1%) fat milk at age 2 years, recent epidemiological evidence supports a link between whole milk consumption and lower adiposity in children. The purpose of this trial is to determine which milk fat recommendation minimizes excess adiposity and optimizes child nutrition and development. CoMFORT will be a parallel group randomized controlled trial among children aged 2 to 4 years participating in the TARGet Kids! practice-based research network. Children will be randomized to receive one of two usual care nutritional recommendations: 1) a recommendation to consume whole milk, or 2) a recommendation to consume reduced (1%) fat milk. The primary outcome is Body Mass Index z-score (zBMI); secondary outcomes will be cognitive development (using the Ages and Stages Questionnaire), vitamin D stores (serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D), cardiometabolic health (glucose, hsCRP, non-HDL, LDL, triglyceride, HDL and total cholesterol, insulin, and diastolic and systolic blood pressure) and sugar sweetened beverage intake (measured by 24-hour dietary recall). Outcomes will be measured 24 months post-randomization and compared using ANCOVA, adjusting for baseline measures. This trial will contribute to nutrition policy for children in effort to reduce childhood obesity using a simple, inexpensive and scalable cow's milk fat intervention.

The goal of this experimental trial is to learn about the changes in bacterial diversity in individuals with type 2 diabetes who perform endurance and strength training at different intensities. Participants with type 2 diabetes will be randomly assigned to 16 weeks of either moderate-intensity endurance and strength training or high-intensity endurance and strength training. Researchers will compare the moderate-intensity and high-intensity exercise groups for differences in glycemia and bacterial diversity.

Low-intensity focused ultrasound (LIFUS) has been shown to be an effective and safe non-invasive brain stimulation technique, capable of reaching greater brain depth and a greater spatial resolution than other brain stimulation tools. Its use as a potential clinical tool for treatment of neurological disorders is reliant on an understanding of its mechanisms of action. Although it has been shown to induce immediate (online) and prolonged (offline) changes in plasticity in the motor cortex, researchers have not studied its effects on neurotransmitter receptors and ion channels responsible for neuronal signaling in humans. The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of online and offline LIFUS stimulation in tandem with administration of various brain-active drugs, to elucidate the effects of this technique on specific cortical receptors and channels. 20 healthy, screened subjects will be recruited to participate in 5 sessions in-lab. Each session will represent the double-blinded administration of four known and studied pharmacological agents known to safely induce changes in the motor cortex, as well as a placebo. Investigators will use carbamazepine (sodium channel blocker), lorazepam (GABAA positive allosteric modulator), nimodipine (calcium channel blocker), and dextromethorphan (glutamate N-Methyl-D-aspartate receptor antagonist). Single- and paired-pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) measures will be recorded for online LIFUS before and after drug intervention, and induction of offline LIFUS during placebo will be compared with its induction following the various drug interventions. Investigators predict that due to the differential effects of online and offline LIFUS on motor parameters, the mechanisms in which it alters the receptors and channels of interest will also be differentially modulated.

Despite multi-modal prehabilitation (nutrition, exercise, and psychosocial interventions), 60% of older elective colorectal cancer surgery patients with poor physical function were unable to reach a minimum preoperative 400m six-minute walking distance (6MWD), a prognostic cut-point. Compared to the patients that attained \>400m 6MWD preoperatively, twice as many of \<400m patients were malnourished. Malnutrition has long been associated with worse functioning (e.g., physical, immune). The investigators hypothesize that for nutritionally deficient patients, the etiology for their poor physical function is malnutrition. Correction of malnutrition alone might thus be sufficient to achieve a 400m 6MWD before surgery and improve patient outcomes.

This phase III trial studies how well letrozole with or without paclitaxel and carboplatin works in treating patients with stage II-IV low-grade serous carcinoma of the ovary, fallopian tube, or peritoneum. Letrozole is an enzyme inhibitor that lowers the amount of estrogen made by the body which in turn may stop the growth of tumor cells that need estrogen to grow. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. It is not yet known whether giving letrozole alone or in combination with paclitaxel and carboplatin works better in treating patients with low-grade serous carcinoma of the ovary, fallopian tube, or peritoneum compared to paclitaxel and carboplatin without letrozole.

NeuroN-QI aims to evaluate the effects of an intervention consisting of periods of: 1) parents/preterm infants skin-to-skin contact and auditory stimulation by the parents's voice and 2) calm without manipulation with olfactory stimulation with breast milk in the incubator/bed both combined with appropriate light and noise levels to promote neurodevelopment preterm infants.

Introduction This study investigates the effects of different intensities of indoor cycling on various health measures. Participants will perform a maximal cycling test to determine their maximal fitness - a strong predictor of overall health - before and after a 6-week training intervention. Blood samples will also be obtained to look at various physiological markers related to extracellular vesicles, inflammation, and metabolism. Who can participate? Healthy young adults who between 18 and 40, are free of immune disease, with a normal body mass index can join this study. They will be divided into three groups: * One group will ride a bike at a moderate pace. * Another group will ride a bike at a slightly harder pace. * The third group won't change their usual daily activities and will continue living as they normally do. What does the study involve? Each exercise session aims to burn a specific amount of calories: 350 for males and 300 for females. Participants cycle 3 times a week for 6 weeks. At the end, we'll repeat the bike test and take another blood sample to see if there have been any changes due to the exercise. Why is this research being done? The researchers want to see how different intensities of exercise impact health and fitness. This may help people make better choices about how much and what type of exercise they should do. What happens after the study? Researchers will analyze the data from the study and see if any differences exist between the protocols. If the participant is interested, we will also provide their blood test results, and the results from their max test.
