The current pandemic situation is stressful for everyone, especially the nurses and social workers working on the front lines. Nurses and social workers have likely experienced elevated exposures to potentially traumatic events due to increased workloads, such as burnout and anxieties related to limited personal protective equipment (PPE). We are trying to better understand the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on nurses' and social workers' health and well-being. In this study, nurse means the following regulated professionals: licensed practical nurse, registered practical nurse, registered nurse, registered psychiatric nurse, mental health nurse, nurse practitioner, and graduate nurse. This study will involve several questionnaires to be completed online.

18 - 100This study is about understanding the experiences of Canadian university students aged 17 to 25 using AI chat tools like ChatGPT to support their mental health. We want to learn who is using these tools, why they’re using them, and what their experience has been like. Some students might use these tools instead of talking to a counsellor because they are private, always available, or feel less judgmental. We are inviting students to take a short online survey, and some may also be asked to do a virtual interview where they can show us how they use these tools. What we learn will help schools and mental health services better support students in the future.

17 - 25Everyone wants the best care possible for hospitalized children and their families. Children do better when their parents are involved in their care. Alberta Family Integrated Care (FICare) is a model of care that was adopted in Alberta’s neonatal intensive care units. With Alberta FICare parents are educated and supported to be a member of their baby’s neonatal care team as soon as they are ready and willing after admission. Alberta FICare improved parental mental health and confidence, which enabled earlier discharge. As the team who implemented Alberta FICare in all 14 NICUs within the province, we now want to know whether this model of care can benefit children and their families on pediatric units. Currently, we are looking for parents/caregivers/legal guardians of children admitted to pediatric units at Chinook Regional Hospital, Lethbridge, Alberta, to complete a survey and a daily questionnaire. This will help us determine if implementing Alberta FICare will yield similar positive results for children admitted to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, Alberta, and their parents/caregivers, as it did in NICUs. Previous (Phase 1: Qualitative Study) Currently, we are interviewing children and youth currently or recently admitted to Units 2, 3 or 4 at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and their parents/caregivers/legal guardians (hereafter referred to as "parents"). These interviews are meant to understand children's experiences in the hospital and parents opinions of the care they received while their child was in the hospital. We are also conducting interviews with healthcare providers and management teams at Alberta Children’s Hospital to understand the specific needs of these groups. If Alberta FICare can be adapted to enhance or improve the quality of care at Alberta Children’s Hospital, we will collaborate to share this model of care with other pediatric hospitals so all Canadian children can benefit.

7 - 99This study is a longitudinal study requiring your answers to questions about your mental health once a year, for up to 4 years. It helps our understanding of mental health trajectories in help-seeking youth by determining possible genetic and environmental risk factors for those with mental illness. We will ask for a saliva sample along with personal history, risk factors, symptom/outcome measures, and electronic health record data from consenting children, adolescents, teenagers and families looking for or accessing mental health services. If you are interested in participating, here is how to sign up and what you can expect: 1. Use the link to start your registration: https://redcap.link/CalgaryTYMCohort 2. Screening Process - To determine whether you fit the participation criteria, we need to collect some information about you first. 3. If you fit the participation criteria, you may choose to complete the study online on your own time or complete the study in person along with one of our research assistants. 4. You will be asked to donate a one-time saliva sample for genetic analysis (mail in for online participants). 5. Follow ups will occur once a year for up to 4 years.

12 - 18Agitation is common in patients with Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and is one of the most distressing and symptoms of AD. Agitation is associated with faster loss of independent living, increased caregiver stress, poorer quality of life, and increased risk of death. In addition, current treatments show only mild benefits but come with side effects. Therefore, identifying safer and more effective treatments for agitation in AD is a priority.

55 - 100The aim of this study is to determine if a single dose of psilocybin administered with motivational enhancement therapy (MET) can reduce heavy drinking in patients with an alcohol use disorder (AUD). Eligible participants will be randomly allocated into either a high or low psilocybin dose group. All participant will be paired with a therapist and will receive up to 8 hours of preparation work prior to dosing. Following dosing participants will receive 5 weekly therapy sessions. Clinical, behavioral and neuroimaging measures will be completed at various time points throughout the study.

22 - 65The goal of this study is to use an online and in-person consensus method to identify the most important measures of healthcare for dementia in Alberta. We aim to develop a set of Quality Indicators to measure dementia care. To achieve this, we will: 1) Use online surveys to create list of quality indicators from those that are available. 2) Conduct in-person discussions to focus on measures for dementia healthcare in Alberta.

12 - 18This study will look at how safe and how well the investigational drug NaBen®, in addition to clozapine, works in improving the symptoms of refractory schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder consisting of positive symptoms, negative symptoms, and an inability to pay attention or process information clearly. Sodium benzoate has been shown to regulate brain chemicals that may help to improve some of the schizophrenia symptoms. The active ingredient in the NaBen® tablet is sodium benzoate. Sodium benzoate is naturally found in cranberries, prunes, plums, cinnamon, ripe cloves, and apples.

18 - 55Bio-banking is the collection, storage, and use of human body samples and personal health information for research. It provides an important resource for mental health research locally, across Canada, and around the world. We are currently building a biobank to collect samples such as stool, urine, and blood along with clinical information to support research in the field of gut bacteria and it's effect on mental health.
