Improving Sleep to Prevent Adolescent Depression

Poor sleep is associated with mood and anxiety problems in teens. We are looking at how creating healthy sleep habits can impact mental health in teens. We aim to use a digitized 7-session intervention involving teens and their parents to try to improve sleep in teenagers.

Participation Requirements

  • Sex:

    Male, Female, Intersex
  • Eligible Ages:

    12 to 18

Participation Criteria

Inclusion Criteria:
1. Healthy children aged 12-18
2. One parent has a likely history of mood or anxiety difficulties
3. Able to speak and understand English
4. Able to tolerate ~2 hours of interviews and questions
5. Reliable access to the Internet

Parents will not be required to participate - though will have the opportunity to complete small tasks if they choose to. Child can participate without parents, but parents can not participate without child.
Exclusion Criteria:
1. Child must not have a diagnosed history of developmental (e.g., Autism, ADHD, etc) or neurological (e.g., epilepsy, cerebral palsy) disorders or a diagnosed history of depression or anxiety disorders (e.g., Major Depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Phobia).
2. Child must not currently use any sleep medications
3. Child not not have experienced any moderate to severe head injury
