'CHIP' stands for Clonal Hematopoiesis of Indeterminate Significance, which are mutations in bone marrow stem cells that give that population of cells a survival or 'clonal' advantage for growth. This study investigates whether CHIP in lymphoma patients aged 60 years and older is a risk factor for chemotherapy-related complications like low blood counts, infections, cardiac events, hospitalizations, dose delays and dose reductions, and failure to recover normal blood counts after chemotherapy finishes.

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of the corneal collagen crosslinking with riboflavin and ultraviolet A in aim to increase the resistance of the graft used as a support for the Boston keratoprosthesis (KPro) type I against corneal melting (keratolysis or sterile necrosis).

The current first-line treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD) in Canada is buprenorphine/naloxone (bup/nx). The standard induction method of bup/nx requires patients to be abstinent from opioids and thereby experience withdrawal symptoms prior to induction, which can be a major barrier in starting treatment. Rapid micro-induction (also known as micro-dosing, low-dose induction) involves the administration of small, frequent does of bup/nx and removes the need for a period of withdrawal prior to the start of treatment. This study aims to compare the effectiveness and safety of rapid micro-induction versus standard induction of bup/nx in patients with OUD.

Current recommendations for protein intake after bariatric surgery are not based on strong scientific evidence. It remains unclear how much protein should be eaten to minimize muscle loss and preserve the metabolism and function of individuals post-bariatric surgery. The objective of this study is to analyze the relationships between changes in body composition, nutrition and protein intake, and muscle function after bariatric surgery to further our understanding of the nutritional needs of patients after bariatric surgery. We intend to recruit around 75 participants, men and women, aged between 18 and 65 years. Participants will be recruited from the Bariatric Surgery Clinic, McGill University Health Center.

This parallel-group randomized controlled trial aims to determine if the location of the lesion(s) in the vestibular system (unilateral versus bilateral, lateral semi-circular canal versus otolith) impacts the effectiveness of adjunct take-home head-mounted display (HMD) virtual reality (VR) therapy in improving patient symptomatology. Fifty patients meeting inclusion criteria will be recruited from the principal investigator's neurotology clinic. Baseline symptomatology questionnaires will be completed, followed by random allocation to virtual reality and control groups. Vestibular rehabilitation and virtual reality protocols will be adhered to for 4 to 8 weeks, followed by symptomatology questionnaires. Data analysis will be conducted to answer the study's objectives.

This is a prospective exploratory phase 2 study designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of mitapivat in RBC membranopathies and CDAII, a rare sub type of anemia. Nine patients from Princess Margaret who are diagnosed with CDAII will be enrolled to the study. Patients will be in the trial for 57 weeks treatment weeks and a safety follow up week after 30 days from last dose. First 8 weeks will be dose escalating period followed by 48 weeks of fixed dose period. 57th week will be dose tapering week. Data collected from Princes Margaret will be incorporated to the main study conducted in EU for analysis. Overall, approximately 25 patients are expected to be enrolled: Approximately 16 patients at sites in the EU and approximately 9 patients in Canada.

This is a Phase 3, multicenter, open-label, randomized, parallel group, treatment study to assess the efficacy and safety of lifileucel in combination with pembrolizumab compared with pembrolizumab alone in participants with untreated, unresectable or metastatic melanoma. Participants randomized to the pembrolizumab monotherapy arm who subsequently have a blinded independent central review- verified confirmed progressive disease (PD) will be offered lifileucel monotherapy in an optional crossover period.

Regular physical activity has substantial health benefits in people with type 1 diabetes. The fear of hypoglycemia, both during and after exercise, is a major barrier to exercise in this population. A major obstacle to providing specific physical activity and exercise advice is that there are still significant gaps in the fundamental understanding of the impact of physical activity and exercise on blood glucose levels in type 1 diabetes. Women with type 1 diabetes have a substantial increase in cardiovascular risk once they have passed menopause. They may lose both bone quality and muscle mass at a faster rate with aging than those without diabetes. Overall, these changes greatly increase the risk of both cardiovascular and frailty related complications. Despite the many potential benefits of resistance exercise for post-menopausal women with type 1 diabetes, there are currently no published studies examining the effects of resistance exercise in this population. Before being able to design a clinical trial of resistance exercise, an examination of the acute effects of resistance exercise on blood glucose levels in post-menopausal women with type 1 diabetes is required. The present study will compare the glycemic effects of a low resistance, high repetition (3 sets of 15 to 20 repetitions) weight lifting program to the effects of a moderate resistance, moderate repetition (3 sets of 8 to 10 repetitions). The investigators hypothesize that the high repetition program will be associated with a bigger decline in blood glucose during exercise, but that the moderate resistance program will be associated with a higher risk of post-exercise hypoglycemia.

The investigators are interested in whether discrete counterpressure maneuvers, or muscle movements in the lower body, will boost blood pressure and cardiovascular control in children who faint. We will record cardiovascular responses to maneuvers of exaggerated sway, leg crossing, crouching, and gluteal muscle tensing in children who faint (N=20), as well as their height, weight, muscularity, and pubertal (Tanner) stage. Autonomic cardiovascular control will be measured using a Valsalva manoeuvre (expiration against a closed airway for 20 seconds) and a supine-stand test. The primary outcomes are noninvasive measures of cardiovascular responses to the maneuvers (blood pressure, cerebral blood flow, and stroke volume (volume of blood pumped per heartbeat). Comparisons will be made across levels of sex, diagnosis, Tanner stage, muscularity, height, and degree of autonomic control.

This study aims to evaluate the outcomes of a rural-DOC Pilot clinic which will be established in the Huntsville site of Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare. Patients from the Muskoka region who are confirmed to have a low-risk penicillin allergy are eligible for participation in the DOC clinic. Following their experience with the DOC, participation in this study will be voluntary and feedback will be requested from each participant, and local primary care providers. The feedback will be used to assess the impact of the DOC clinic on participants and the medical community over the 2 - year study. Feedback will also be collected to investigate ongoing antimicrobial use for those participants who were successfully delabeled. This will be accomplished by surveying participants at six and twelve months after their DOC.
