Advancing Dual Fluoroscopy for Precision Osteoarthritis Care

Osteoarthritis of the Knee

We are looking at how the knee joint moves when affected by osteoarthritis and knee dislocation. Participants will visit the University's Foothill campus once for a computed tomography (CT) scan, followed by video X-ray (biplane fluoroscopy) imaging.

Participation Requirements

  • Sex:

    Male, Female, Intersex

  • Eligible Ages:

    18 and up

Participation Criteria

Inclusion Criteria:
Prospective participant eligibility :
• Adult participants (aged 18 and above)
• No major deformity or condition affecting gait
• Ambulatory with ability to perform activities of daily living
• Able to read and write in English and provide informed consent
Prospective asymptomatic control participants should meet the following criteria:
• No previous knee trauma or surgery
• No evidence of OA at any lower-limb joints (knee, ankle, and hip)
Prospective participants with knee OA should meet the following criteria:
• Individuals diagnosed with knee OA (Kellgren-Lawrence score >1)
• No evidence of OA at other lower-limb joints (ankle and hip)
Prospective participants with LPD should meet the following criteria :
• Received LPD surgery >5 years prior
• No evidence of OA at other lower-limb joints (ankle and hip)

Exclusion Criteria:
Prospective participant exclusion criteria :
• Participants under 18 years of age
• Pregnant, breastfeeding, or may be pregnant
• Surgery or traumatic injury within the last 6 months
• Prior knee, hip or ankle replacement or ankle fusion
• Individuals who cannot walk unassisted
