Pathophysiology of post-traumatic headache: What are we missing?

This study aims to learn more about the basis of chronic post-traumatic headache following concussion. Chronic post-traumatic headache is in many ways similar to chronic migraine. In this study, we will compare a variety of measures from individuals with chronic post-traumatic headache, individuals with chronic migraine and healthy controls. Participants will complete questionnaires, undergo an MRI scan, and have a blood draw. A better understanding of how chronic post-traumatic headache and chronic migraine differ (and are similar) will inform more effective treatments.

    Male, Female, Intersex

  • Âges admissibles:

    25 to 65

Critères de participation

Inclusion Criteria:
Chronic post-traumatic headache
1) History of at least 1 physician-diagnosed concussion
2) Diagnosis of post-traumatic headache

Chronic Migraine
1) Diagnosis of chronic migraine

Healthy controls
1) No history of head injury
2) No history of headache or chronic pain disorder
Exclusion Criteria:
1) Contraindications to MRI imaging
2) Major medical conditions (i.e., liver failure, stroke, epilepsy)
3) Illicit drug use in the past 6 months (not including marijuana)
4) Some mental health or neurological diagnoses (i.e., psychosis, Autism)
5) Autoimmune conditions (i.e. Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis)
