Clinical utility of point of care ultrasound in detection of clinical congestion in stable patients prior to right heart catheterization

Heart Failure Symptoms and Signs

We want to see if a short, bedside ultrasound assessment is as good as invasive testing to help determine if the blood volume and pressures are normal or not. To do this, we will compare our clinical assessment of blood volume alone, or with a short ultrasound of the lungs and heart to the gold standard of measured pressures obtained via an invasive cardiac catheterization.
