Mental health and brain alterations in children with multiple early risks
Mental Health | BrainThis study will investigate the impact of prenatal alcohol exposure on children's brain development and mental health. By understanding alterations in neurobiology, effective screening and treatment methods can be developed.
Participants will be asked to complete an MRI scan and cognitive assessments at the Alberta Children's Hospital. We are asking for a two-year time commitment. Participants will be compensated with a gift card.

Male, Female, Intersex -
Eligible Ages:
7 to 21
Participation Criteria
Inclusion Criteria:
1. Children and youth aged 7-21 years old
2. Children and youth with OR without prenatal alcohol exposure
3. Able to tolerate a 60-minute MRI scan, and 2-4 hour neuropsychological assessment
Exclusion Criteria:
1. Children with braces, or other metal implants that are contraindicated for MRI
2. Children born under 34 weeks (born more than 6 weeks premature)
3. Children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, psychosis, or genetic disorders
