PREDICT-TAA
Aneurysm | ThoracicA thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) is an abnormal widening in a part of the aorta that passes through the chest causing complications if it tears or ruptures. Aortic size is currently the only tool used for clinical decisions, however, this ‘one size fits all’ approach is imperfect. The purpose of the PREDICT-TAA study is to develop a new, more precise and personalized model to predict TAA growth.
Patients in this study will have the stiffness of their arteries assessed by non-invasive instruments and current size of their aortic aneurysm measured by CT or MRI when enrolled. Medical history, blood pressure and a blood sample will also be collected initially. Annual CT or MRI will be conducted for 2 more years to monitor the TAA growth.

Critères de participation
Inclusion Criteria:
1. Age ≥18 years
2. Dilation of the aortic root or ascending aorta ≥40mm
Exclusion Criteria:
1. Previous surgical repair of the aorta
2. Suffered an acute aortic syndrome
3. Known systemic inflammatory condition
4. Contraindications to both CT and MRI
5. Permanent atrial fibrillation or flutter
6. Previous bilateral carotid endarterectomy or stenting
7. Previous bilateral lower extremity bypass or stenting at or above the common femoral arteries
