Over 18This study will evaluate the retention rates of two advanced therapies, Tumour Necrosis Factor (TNF) and Janus kinase inhibitor (JAK) in the treatment of adults with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) over a two year period. It will also examine the ability to embed a clinical trial in a clinical situation using an electronic medical record (EMR).

Over 18A full-thickness macular hole is when there is a small gap that opens in the center part of the retina (the light-sensitive layer of tissue in the back of the eye). Following surgical repair of these holes, patients have to lie face down for a number of days and nights. The exact amount of time necessary to position is however unknown. The goal of this randomized feasibility clinical trial is to compare 3 days and nights of face-down positioning to 7 days and nights of face-down positioning following pars plana vitrectomy surgery for full-thickness macular holes on key patient outcomes. This study will be a feasibility study to better inform a future larger clinical trial. Additionally, this investigation will be examining the rates of macular hole closure, patient visual acuity following surgery, patient quality of life, patient compliance, and complication rates.

Over 18All heart surgery patients universally require hydration, which is given through a vein in the arm, but practices for treating patients are not universal. There are disagreements about whether crystalloids should be used alone or in combination with albumin. This question has important implications because albumin is an expensive blood product in relatively limited supply, and 20% of its use is by heart surgery patients. The goal of this study is to learn more about how crystalloids and albumin are used during heart surgery, as well as, key patient outcomes.

18 - 99The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if participants treated with the experimental drug cusatuzumab added to venetoclax and azacitidine works to treat acute myeloid leukemia (AML) compared to venetoclax and azacitidine. Venetoclax and azacitidine are drugs commonly used to treat AML in patients that are unable to receive chemotherapy to treat AML. The main question the clinical trial aims to answer is does cusatuzumab added to venetoclax and azacitidine prolong the length of time participants live compared to venetoclax and azacitidine?

Over 18The primary purpose of this investigation is to determine whether water carbonation can improve orthostatic tolerance in healthy control volunteers. Orthostatic tolerance refers to the ability to maintain an adequate blood pressure when standing. In some individuals blood pressure can fall when standing, predisposing to dizzy spells or fainting episodes. Drinking water can boost blood pressure and making fainting episodes less likely. However, it is not clear whether the carbonation of the water has any further impact on the blood pressure response. This is important because it may be that carbonated water expands the stomach (gastric distension), provoking an increase in sympathetic activity. The increase in sympathetic nervous system activity boosts blood pressure. Resolving this question would have important implications for patients with syncope. This study will test whether carbonated water will have any further impact on blood pressure than the already known effect of non-carbonated water.

19 - 50Outbreaks of seasonal respiratory viruses can spread rapidly in long-term care homes. Timely results for diagnostic tests remains a challenge for respiratory viruses due to the logistics of using a reference laboratory with delays leading to missed opportunities to implement virus-specific control measures to interrupt transmission resulting in larger outbreaks. Use of a point-of-care testing platform is a potential solution that provides faster results, but it is uncertain whether this translates into benefits for long-term care residents. This trial aims to assess whether rapid test results for respiratory pathogens (Influenza, COVID-19 and Respiratory Syncytial Virus) can impact the number and size of respiratory virus outbreaks in long-term care homes.

AnyThis study examines how well a new, potential medicine called NDec works and is tolerated in people with sickle cell disease. NDec is a combination of two medicines (decitabine-tetrahydrouridine). Both medicines are new for the treatment of sickle cell disease. Participants who are not taking Hydroxyurea (HU) will get NDec, NDec and placebo, or placebo. Participants who are on HU treatment before joining the study will get NDec, NDec and placebo, or continue on HU. Which treatment participants get is decided by chance. Participants getting NDec and/or Placebo will get capsules to take twice weekly. The study will last for about a year.

Over 18The proposed study aims to determine the feasibility of the procedures for a future full randomized controlled trial (RCT), which will test the efficacy of a parent-child yoga intervention in reducing attention deficits in children with congenital heart disease (CHD). Specific aims of this single-blind, two-arm, two-center feasibility trial are to evaluate recruitment rates and capacity, withdrawal and dropout rates, adherence to the intervention, acceptability of the randomization process by families, variation in delivery of the intervention between yoga instructors, and standard deviation of main outcomes of the future RCT in order to determine its appropriate sample size. This feasibility study will lead to the first ever RCT to test the efficacy of an intervention strategy for reducing attention deficits in children with CHD. Ultimately, the implementation of this parent-child yoga program will lead to better long-term academic and psychosocial functioning and quality of life for these children and their family.
