This is a multi-center, randomized, double-masked clinical trial. All study devices are market approved/cleared in the localities where the study is conducted. Subjects will be randomly assigned to wear NaturalVue Sphere single vision contact lenses (SVCL) or NaturalVue Multifocal (NVMF) soft contact lenses for a total of three years.

AnyThe maintenance of lean body mass, especially skeletal muscle, is vital for optimal health and performance across the lifespan. The protein component of lean body mass is in a constant state of turnover, involving the simultaneous breakdown of old and/or damaged proteins and the synthesis of new proteins. These processes collectively determine if someone gains or loses lean body mass. Eating a protein-rich meal or performing resistance exercise can stimulate protein synthesis to gain lean body mass. Stable isotope "tracers" are amino acid building blocks that are slightly heavier than those naturally found in the body. In research, these are often used to assess changes in protein turnover in response to feeding and/or exercise. However, traditional stable isotope tracer methods involve the intravenous delivery of a tracer with blood sampling and muscle biopsies, which may be cumbersome or unfeasible for some for participants. The investigators have recently developed and validated a non-invasive 'breath test' in males that measures the efficiency of the body for using amino acids in food to build new body proteins. The principle of this method is that leucine, an essential amino acid that the body must acquire from normal diet, can be used to build new body proteins or as a source of energy (i.e., oxidized). Since leucine is preferentially used in skeletal muscle, skeletal muscle protein metabolism can be non-invasively inferred . Any leucine "tracer" that is oxidized can be detected and measured in the carbon dioxide exhaled. It has been observed that less dietary leucine is oxidized when active males perform a bout of resistance exercise, meaning more was used to build muscle proteins. When performed habitually, resistance exercise can help skeletal muscles grow, compared to a rested-state, resulting in greater leucine retention in the body to build new proteins. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to validate this non-invasive breath test in females to increase the validity of the method in a wider range of populations. Ultimately, the results will further validate this non-invasive tool that can potentially detect whether different populations are sensitive to dietary amino acids and in a position to gain or lose lean body mass.

18 - 35The purpose of this research study is to see how useful it is to look at biomarkers in the blood and tumor tissue of participants with ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal cancer who have previously received treatment with a drug called a PARP inhibitor, and using the results to determine the best treatment for these participants. Biomarkers are molecules such as genes (molecules that contain instructions for the development and function of cells in the body) and proteins that may be used to see how well a body responds to certain treatments.

Over 18Social isolation and loneliness worsens older adults' risk of dementia, quality of life, and death as much as smoking. Older adults are more likely to use emergency services and are also more likely to experience social isolation and loneliness than younger people. The emergency department is a new setting to screen for social isolation and loneliness in older adults and help accordingly. Social isolation and loneliness are experienced differently by different older adults. Different interventions combatting social isolation and loneliness may work better for different people, and little is known about older adult's preferences for specific types of interventions. HOW R U? is an effective and feasible intervention using same-generation peer support offered by trained hospital volunteers to reduce social isolation and loneliness in older adults. In partnership with the Australian developer of HOW R U?, this study will compare an intergenerational HOW R U? intervention using younger volunteers with the same-generation peer support intervention and a waitlist control arm. The investigators partnered with the staff of emergency departments and family medicine clinics to identify people who will benefit from an intervention combatting, and Volunteer Services to recruit volunteers. The investigators hypothesize that the older adults who receive the intergenerational HOW R U? intervention will have a greater improvement in social isolation and loneliness.

Over 70Thyroid cancers that have spread beyond the neck are not curable. About 30,000 people worldwide die from thyroid cancer every year. Usually, thyroid cancers get worse because the cancer cells become more and more abnormal through a process that is called dedifferentiation. Radioactive iodine is a standard treatment for this type of thyroid cancer. Patients will usually receive multiple dose of radioactive iodine over the course of their cancer journey. Thyroid cancers lose sensitivity to radioactive iodine as the cancer progresses/worsens with the process of dedifferentiation. When this occurs, the radioactive iodine treatments no longer work against the cancer and the cancer grows. Radioactive iodine enters cancer cells through transporter proteins on the outside of the cancer cell. The transporter proteins that are the most important are the sodium iodide symporters. As thyroid cancers dedifferentiate, these symporters stop working as well as they once did. The radioactive iodine can therefore not get into the cancer cells to cause cancer cell death. Laboratory research has shown that in thyroid cancer, a protein on the cell called platelet derived growth factor receptor alpha (PDGFRα) is an important for tumour growth and thyroid cancer dedifferentiation. PDGFRα helps cancer progression and lowers the ability of sodium iodine symporters to move radioiodine into cells where it would normal act to kill the cancer cells. PDGFRα therefore makes thyroid cells resistant to radioactive iodine. Imatinib is an anti-cancer drug that blocks PDGFRα function. It has been used for many years to treat other cancers such as leukemia. The investigators who wrote this study believe that, base on laboratory testing, if thyroid cancer patients are given imatinib whenafter their cancers have become resistant to radioactive iodine, the imatinib will block PDGFRα. This will let the sodium iodine symporters work again and move the radioactive iodine into the cancer cells. This should shrink the tumours. Imatinib would then make the thyroid cancer cell sensitive to radioactive iodine again. This should shrink the tumours and would mean longer control of the cancer, helping people with this disease live longer.

Over 18Congenital heart disease (CHD) is predominantly detected before birth. Using echocardiography and MRI, this study will determine whether acute exposure to maternal hyperoxygenation (MH) leads to measurable increases in fetal cerebral oxygenation from baseline in fetuses with CHD. The study aims to determine whether MH could be used as a chronic in-utero treatment strategy to promote brain growth/maturation to birth and to improve postnatal neurodevelopmental outcomes, and identify the types of CHD most likely to benefit from chronic MH.

Over 18This study seeks to explore the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), a non-invasive method of brain stimulation, as an adjunctive treatment to improve antipsychotic medication adherence in patients with schizophrenia (SCZ). Over 18This research study is being conducted to evaluate the feasibility of using technology to deliver a remote home exercise program and assess the health outcomes of patients with chronic lung diseases. Specific objectives are to assess the interventions on patients: 1) Lung function, 2) Dyspnea, 3) Fatigue, 4) Exercise capacity, 5) Self-efficacy, and 6) Health-related quality of life. The investigators will also be evaluating the practicality of using videoconferencing and commercial wearable telemonitoring devices (ie. smart watches) for the implementation of the intervention in this group of patients.

Over 18Brachytherapy treatment in gynecological cancers is an essential component to delivering adequate doses of radiation to a tumour while sparing normal tissue. Interstitial or intra-cavitary brachytherapy are often needed in advanced or recurrent disease, in cases where intrauterine brachytherapy may not deliver the optimal outcome. Interstitial or intra-cavitary brachytherapy are based on a defined template-and-needle system, and the procedure relies on clinical examination and pre-treatment imaging to guide needle insertion. There is currently no standard image-guided process to help direct needles in the pelvis. We propose using 3D ultrasound to provide real-time imaging for the brachytherapy procedure, which will aid in avoiding needle insertion into pelvic organs and result in optimal dose coverage to the tumour.
