The goal of this double-blind, randomized placebo-controlled study is to evaluate the effect of an 8-week supplementation of Humiome ® Post LB (170 mg) on bowel movements in healthy adult volunteers compared to Placebo adjusted on baseline. The main question\[s\] it aims to answer \[is/are\]: Does Humiome ® Post LB improve bowel movements with self-reported GI issues? Participants will be provided Humiome ® Post LB (170 mg) for 8 weeks and asked to complete a study diary, questionnaires, and stool samples.

Burn patients very commonly develop abnormal scars after injury which can be red, raised or elevated, painful and very itchy. They can prevent normal movement of hands and other joints and lead to ugly deformities which makes physical and psychological recovery very difficult. This proposal seeks to test the usefulness of a cream called Nefopam to prevent and treat these bad scars after burns and other injury to the skin. Nefopam is a drug that has been used as a pain medicine in Europe but has been found to have anti-scarring properties in rats and pigs. It has been tested in healthy people and found to be well tolerated and safe. The study purposes to make a scratch in the hip skin in 60 adult burn patients at two burn unit sites, the University of Alberta and the University of California at Davis, Sacramento CA. Burn patients in the study will have a scratch wound in the skin of the each side of the hip, part way through the thickness of the skin which is shallow at first but gets deeper. This scratch is made with a special guide which precisely controls the length and depth of the scratch so that each scratch is the same. Part of the scratch heals without scar and the deeper part heals with a red raised scar over a small region less than 2 inches long. One side will be treated with the drug and the other with a control or placebo are in a white cream that is indistinguishable, where you cannot tell which side contains the drug. Once the wound is nearly healed, usually less than 21 days, the cream will be applied twice daily for three weeks. Measurements will be done about once per month for four months where the healing scratches will be photographed, measurements of the thickness made with ultrasound and mexameter for scar color or pigment and redness. Ultrasound is a painless probe that uses sound waves to measure scar thickness and mexameter is a painless probe on the surface of the scratch to measure color and redness. Both measurements take only minutes to complete. Patients will be asked to answer a scar assessment form about on how they feel each scratch during the treatment and the research staff will also the complete scar form as well. It is the aim of the study to find a cream the works to prevent and reduce scarring after burn injury in military or civilian patients. In the future, an useful cream for scarring in burn patients may also be helpful for other skin damage which leads to scarring.

In this study, researchers will learn more about the use of felzartamab in people with active lupus nephritis, also known as LN. In people with LN, antibodies build up in the glomeruli of the kidneys. Antibodies are proteins in the blood used by the immune system to fight infection. Glomeruli are small filters that remove waste and extra fluid from the blood. This buildup leads to inflammation and damage to the kidneys. Kidney damage can lead to too much protein and blood leaking into the urine. High levels of protein in the urine, called proteinuria, are common in people with LN. Symptoms of LN can include fever, swelling in the legs and body, and high blood pressure. If left untreated, LN can eventually lead to kidney failure. In this study, researchers will learn more about how a study drug called felzartamab affects people with LN. Felzartamab is a monoclonal antibody, which means it is an antibody made in a laboratory. Felzartamab can target immune cells that produce antibodies, helping to lower their buildup in the kidneys. The main goal of this study is to learn more about the safety of felzartamab and how it works in the body of people with LN who are taking standard of care. This will help researchers decide if they should do more studies with felzartamab in people with LN. Standard of care is the usual treatment or care given to patients for a disease, as prescribed by their doctor. The main question researchers want to answer in this study are: • How many participants had adverse events during the study? An adverse event is a health problem that may or may not be caused by the study drug. It can happen during a clinical study or within a certain amount of time after the study has ended. Researchers will also learn more about: * How much felzartamab affects proteinuria and the level of creatinine in the urine. Creatinine is a protein that is released into the blood from normal muscle wear and tear. Its levels can help doctors understand how well your kidneys are working. * How many participants have a complete response. A complete response means that their urine protein levels decrease to a low level, and their kidney function stays stable. * How many participants have a 50% decrease in the level of protein and creatinine in their urine. * How much felzartamab affects the participants' lupus-related blood tests. * How the body processes felzartamab. * How many participants develop antibodies against felzartamab in the blood. This study will be done as follows: * Participants will be screened to check if they can join the study. The screening period will be up to 42 days. * Throughout the study, all participants will continue taking their standard of care, as prescribed by their doctor. * There are 2 parts in this study. In both parts, participants will receive felzartamab through an intravenous infusion, also known as an IV. This means it is being given into a vein. * In Part 1, participants will have up to 14 visits to their study research center. In Part 2, participants may have up to 15 visits. * Each participant will be in the study for about 2 years.

Investigators know that many patients who are on dialysis suffer from burden of unwanted symptoms, which can affect quality of life. The understanding and treatment of symptom burden by healthcare providers is limited and should be recognized as a high priority in the care of the dialysis population. In this study, the investigators will be assessing symptom burden using the London Evaluation of Illness "LEVIL," an application based platform where patients self-report their symptoms with one to three hemodialysis treatments per week for 28 weeks. The investigators would like to compare the currently available dialyzer with a new dialyzer that is capable of removing solutes of higher molecular weight that may or may not cause patients to experience symptoms related to increased amounts of toxins in their blood.

Chronic pain is associated with mental disorders, and some patients have behavioral issues. Some patients may sexually or racially harass pain clinic staff. Healthcare staff do not usually report sexual or racial harassment perpetrated by patients. Quantitative and qualitative analysis of prospective electronic and clinic diary data. Evaluation of incidents of sexual and racial harassment of clinic staff; perpetrated by patients. Analysis of causative factors, incident outcome, system factors and lessons learned.

The goal of this pilot randomized cross-over study is to compare the effect of a full-face mask with expiratory washout to a conventional full face mask on non-invasive ventilation (NIV) in patients with acute hypercapnic, and acute hypoxemic, respiratory failure. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Does a mask with expiratory washout improve minute ventilation in patients using non-invasive ventilation compared with a conventional single-limb NIV mask * How does a mask with expiratory washout affect respiratory variables compared with a dual-limb NIV mask. Participants already prescribed NIV will undergo 3 arms of the investigation in a randomized order: * Single-limb NIV with investigation mask (with expiratory washout) * Single-limb NIV with conventional mask * Dual-limb NIV with conventional mask

Title: Self-hypnosis training in chronic pain management: A pilot study Our primary objective concerns the effect of hypnosis intervention on change in 24h pain between T0 (pre-intervention) and T4 (3-month follow-up). The secondary objectives concern the effects of the intervention on (i) change in 24h pain between T0 and T5 (6-month follow-up), (ii) changes from T0 in measures of the functional impact of pain, (iii) changes from T0 in anxiety-depression scores and (iv) changes from T0 in quality of life. The study design is a Randomized efficacy pilot study. The study focuses on patients practicing self-hypnosis within HMR groups. The study population is pain clinic patients. The sample size is 60 pain clinic patients. Study duration: February 2024 - December 2024. Center responsible for the study: Centre de Recherche de l'Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont (CR-HMR) - CEMTL, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Adverse events: none expected.

The primary purpose of this study is to characterize cardiovascular autonomic function to emotional stimuli (blood-injection-injury phobia \[needle phobia\]) during an orthostatic (upright) challenge in individuals with and without known needle phobia. It is well established that emotional stress can produce hypotensive (low blood pressure) reactions. Interestingly, these hypotensive reactions to venipuncture (even with minimal blood drawn), insulin injections, finger sticks for blood sugar monitoring, dental care, and vaccinations can affect up to a quarter of adults and appear to be uniquely associated with blood-injection-injury phobia rather than other phobias. These hypotensive reactions can ultimately lead to a vasovagal syncope (fainting) response, and lead to increased avoidance of medical and dental procedures as a result of this phobia. Ultimately, this has severe implications on public health and places additional strain on the Canadian healthcare system. Currently, there is limited understanding surrounding the initiation of this response. Additionally, a comprehensive profile of cardiovascular autonomic function during exposure to provoking stimuli during orthostatic stress has not been captured in the literature. We will test individuals with and without blood-injection-injury phobia using our standard approach while exposing them to emotional stimuli.

This first-in-human study will evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and antitumor activity of TORL-4-500 in patients with advanced cancer. For Part 1, any advanced or metastatic solid tumor malignancy will be evaluated including, for example, adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC).
