Stress, the brain and depression
Depression | Mental Health | Emotions | Brain | Stress | Resilience | MemoryWe are asking you to take part in a research study in the University of Alberta Department of Psychiatry. Stress increases risk for depression and anxiety, but many people do not develop these problems. The aim of the present study is to understand individual differences in susceptibility and sensitivity to stress. We will also investigate how stress affects the brain using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Cortisol hormone levels increase during stress and can negatively affect brain structure and function. We will measure your stress level, memory function, and cortisol level.
