Radial Artery

Randomized comparison of the Outcomes of single vs Multiple Arterial grafts trial in Women (ROMA:Women)
ROMA Women exclusively extends enrollment in women following the completion of the planned 4,300 patient total ROMA enrollment. It is the first cardiac surgery trial dedicated exclusively to women.

Participation Requirements

  • Sex:

    Female
  • Eligible Ages:

    18 and up

Participation Criteria

Inclusion Criteria:
A biological female undergoing primary isolated CABG with disease of the left main coronary artery and/or of the left anterior descending and the circumflex system with or without disease of the right coronary artery.
Exclusion Criteria:
1. Age <18
2. Planned single graft coronary artery bypass grafting
3. Emergency operation
4. ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) within 72 hours of surgery
5. Left ventricular ejection fraction <35%
6. Any concomitant cardiac or non-cardiac procedure
7. Any previous cardiac operation
8. Preoperative severe end-organ dysfunction, cancer or any co-morbidity that reduces life expectancy to less than 5 years
9. Inability to use the saphenous vein, OR to use both radial and right internal thoracic arteries
10. Anticipated need for coronary thrombo-endarterectomy
